5.1. GRgXXI - Franklinstraße - Konzeptgedanke: 


     German version

Konzeptidee:

Auseinandersetzung von Schülerinnen und Schülern unterschiedlicher Schulstufen mit Themen ihrer Lebenswirklichkeit: Kulturelle Ausdrucksformen dieser Generation steht als Arbeitstitel über dem Projekt. Schülerinnen und Schüler sollen am konkreten Beispiel einer/mehrer Partnerschule/n in Bosnien-Herzegowina Interesse am Austausch finden und auch daran, sich einen anderen/erweiterten Blickwinkel zum Thema Europa anzueignen.

Grundlegende Fragen:

  • Inwieweit ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit einer Region und mit deren gleichaltrigen Bewohnern umsetzbar in einen europäischen Kontext?
  • Wie geht man mit kultureller Vielfalt um?
  • Welche gemeinsamen Themen zwischen Jugendlichen gibt es? Wie kommen Jugendliche miteinander ins Gespräch? Welche Anknüpfungspunkte gibt es – welche Differenzen? Wie geht man – als Jugendlicher / als begleitender Lehrer / als Institution / als? – damit um?

Idea of the concept:

Students of different age should be confrontated with everyday topics: the working title is cultural expressions of this generation. In this sense students should meet young pupils/students from Bosnia-Herzegovina for a cultural exchange. Furthermore we also hope that the young participants will get a deeper perception of Europe.


Basic questions:

  • To what extent is a cultural exchange with another region and with people of the same age practicable/possible in a European context?
  • How do we handle cultural diversity?
  • Which themes have young people in common? How do they communicate? Which similarities and differences are there? How can a student/a teacher in this project/an institution can handle this situation?

6. Aims of the project

Projektziele


Perceptions being the key expression, the participants will examine self-perception as well as their perception of the other. Changes of perspective will provide fertile ground for intercultural dialogue. The results of the project are to be presented as an Alternative Travel Guide for Young People in dialogue form. It should contain a presentation of the participating students personal environment as well as reflect their own expectations of and/or (travelling) experiences made in foreign regions. Thus, perceptions of the self and the other complement one another and start a dialogue.


6.1. Lernziele / Projektziele (Wien - Franklinstraße):

Projektziele:

Steigerung von Fertigkeiten und Fähigkeiten im interkulturellen Kontext wären Ziele dieses Projektes, wobei interkulturelle Kompetenz wie folgt definiert wird:

• Differenzen zwischen der eigenen und der fremden Kultur erkennen, im besonderen in konkreten Kommunikationssituationen (Dialoge über elektronische Medien, anhand der eigenen/fremden Themenbearbeitung, reale Kommunikationssituationen während der Besuche u./o. während des International Youth Meetings Mai 08)

• Differenzen der eigenen und fremden Kultur thematisieren / dialogisieren können, Gesprächsbereitschaft zeigen und erkennen können, Kommunikationsstrategien einsetzen können (Empathie, Aktives Zuhören, etc.)

• Konfliktpotential erkennen können, Strategien zur Vermeidung bzw. Bewältigung von Konflikten einsetzen lernen (Störungen / Komplikationen in der Kommunikation erkennen und darauf der Situation angemessen reagieren), dabei wird vermutlich viel Unterstützung notwendig sein

• den eigenen Standpunkt darlegen können / den anderen Standpunkt anerkennen können; subjektives Empfinden und objektivierbare Kommunikationssituationen einschätzen lernen

• projektorientierte Lernformen kennen lernen und anwenden können; regelmäßig in der Gruppe darüber nachdenken und Ziele bzw. Inhalte modifizieren

• elektronische Kommunikationsmedien reflektiert nutzen können

Aims:

To raise skills within an intercultural context, we define cultural competence as follows:

  • Recognise differences between our own and a different culture, especially in concrete communication situations. (Dialog via electronic media, on the basis of their own and external work on the topic, face to face communication during the visits and the International Youth Meeting in May 2008)
  • Be aware of and talk about one’s own and the other culture, to show and to recognise the readiness to talk, to adopt communication strategies (empathy, active listening, etc
  • Recognise conflict potential, to implement strategies to avoid and to accomplish conflicts (to recognise problems within the communicaton and to act accordingly). There will be the need of strong support.
  • Present one’s own opinion/ to accept other opinions, to evaluate subjective and objective communication situations
  • Learn and to implement project oriented working/learning methods to discuss on a regular basis in the group to modify aims and contents
  • Use and to reflect the electronic media

Die Entwicklung des Konzeptes geht schrittweise vor sich; die Jugendlichen (zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt; Nov 2007) befinden sich in der Phase der Konkretisierung ihrer grundsätzlichen Ideen

  • 1. Gruppenfindung und Identitätsstiftung innerhalb der eigenen Gruppe
  • 2. Erkennen gleichartiger und unterschiedlicher kultureller Zugänge und der Gruppenmitglieder
  • 3. Kennenlernen der politischen, gesellschaftspolitischen, kulturellen u.a. Verhältnisse im Herkunftsland der einzelnen Schüler/innen

Content of teaching

The progress of the concept is step by step (the young people are in the process of clarifying their ideas) as follows:

  • 1. Form a group and build up an identity within the group
  • 2. Realise similar and different approaches to the topic
  • 3. Get to know the political, sociopolitical and cultural background of the other students
  • 4. Create a common concept
  • 5. Youth groups – their different values and their aims (see the material in the appendix)
  • 6. Photos from places, which have a special meaning for the young people (subjective / groupwise / young people in common)
  • 7. Interviews with young peopel
  • 8. Texts concerning this topic
  • 9. Creating own texts
  • 10. Presentation methods
  • 11. Involve experts if required
  • 12. Create a travel guide
  • 13. Continue if necessary and if there is enough time
