5. Idea of the project / project description / runtime

6. Aims of the project The main idea of the project is to form tolerant consciousness through intercultural dialogue in a city environment and to create an interactive photoexposition reflecting this idea. The participants of the project have chosen various objects of development of intercultural dialogue in their respective cities: family (Austria), interaction of an individual and city subcultures (Finland) and sociocultural space of the city (Russia). Vienna, St. Petersburg and Helsinki were chosen as the research cities. Each party collects a photos/pictures on the chosen theme and supplies it with the comments and an essay. The end result will be presented in the form of an interactive photo-exhibition on a CD-RW disk where each of the three themes will be presented on one of the three floors of a common house. This house is constructed on the base of “culture” and "respect", the end result of this construction is “tolerance”. On each floor there is a link, through which you will see a map of one of the cities and a photo with comments on the theme. This exposition is a reflection of a sight of the project participants on the development of intercultural dialogue in a megalopolis, on how a dialogue of cultures helps with the construction of a common house and a city in which people of different nationalities can live comfortably together. The exposition will be presented on the opening day (at the vernissage), hence the name of our team “Vernissage”.

8. Comment the projects here Rusinova Olga, gymnasium №171, St. Petersburg:

"I was astonished by project "Tolerance".In a matter of a few days I got acquainted with people from three absolutely different countries.I was pleasantly surprised how interested they were in St. Petersburg and its culture.During the course a these few days I was surrounded by a friendly atmosphere, new information and kind attitude.I think that despite the fact that we come from different cultural backgrounds, we have something in common - a desire to communicate.

I hope that our first meeting was a positive demonstration of our international dialogue."

Elisabeth Wagner, BRG 2 Vereinsgasse:

"The meeting in St. Petersburg was very exciting for our students. They enjoyed meeting new people from other cultures very much and had a fantastic opportunity to comunicate and develop their ideas. We were impressed by the hospitality of the families we met."

As you can see, we were very busy.

Volo Mykhalevych, Kallion lukio, Helsinki:

"The event was full of interesting adventures and mishaps and it was all worth it, starting with this. We enjoyed the different sides of St. Petersburg - thanks to everybody who put so much effort into it. Our meeting gave good ground to the project and the future looks most bright. Contacts have been made and understanding has been created."
