5. Idea of the project / project description / runtime // Entstehung der Projektidee / Projektbeschreibung / Laufzeit

The idea of the project is to prove or deny sterotypes and prejudices about Lithuania and Estonia. As well, to show that our countries' cultures are not the same as Russian culture (as a lot of foreign people are used to think so).

After the Kick-Off event, in February and March, groups of pupils in both schools had an e-mail exchange about the cultural diversities of the two countries (e.g traditions, national costumes, jokes about the other nation etc).

In March and April a contest of young photographers will be organized in both schools with an aim to present one’s own homeland. Exhibitions of the two countries will be presented in both schools and finally on the Dialoguing Youth Event.

6. Aims of the project // Projektziele

Compare:
  • National costumes and casual clothing
  • Media
  • Languages
  • Jokes about each country of our cross-border team

As it is mentioned in the main ideas of this whole intercultural project, our bilateral Estonian-Lithuanian co-operation aims to promote competence in intercultural activities and strengthen the abilities and courage of (young) people to pursue new paths in the management of cultural diversity. The methods used also aim to strengthen the key competences: in particular intercultural and social competences, learning competences and computer skills. We found that the best way to do so would be a photo contest as it is attractive to youngsters, creative and related to computer skills at once.

7. Detailed project-schedule and method (who, what, when, how?) // detailierter Zeitplan und Methode der Umsetzung (wer, was, wann, wie?)

Methods:
  • Photos
  • Video, voice and music records
  • Interviews with people listed in "Project partners"

Exchange of ideas about Estonia and Lithuania in Wiki and via e-mail: February-March 2008 Contest of young photographers in both schools “My Estonia”/”My Lithuania”: March–April 2008 Exhibition of Estonian photos: first week of May Exchange of exhibitions – delegation visits the partner school: second week of May Exhibition of Lithuanian photos: third week of May Both exhibitions will be brought to Austria in the end of May.
