5. Idea of the project / project description / runtime // Entstehung der Projektidee / Projektbeschreibung / Laufzeit:

At the beginning of the project we would like to introduce our schools and school surroundings to our partners (see First Results)

In the first phase of the project we want to find some information about the values and idols of young people in the past. The past in the context of our project means ancient times. All the findings will be presented here and will become a part of our final product.

In the second phase we want to concentrate on the idols and interests young people have and live for nowadays. We are planning to prepare a questionnaire and make a survey in our schools to find out this information. The results of the survey will then be summarized and presented in the form of a graph (or something like that). The final product will be presented in May in Graz.


6. Aims of the project // Projektziele

- to get to know the partner schools and their regions

- to compare how young people spend their free time in the different schools

- to find similarities and differences in the questions of youth culture

- to improve students' foreign language skills by communicating via the internet

- to familiarize students and teachers with using moderm media

- to improve students' creativity by finding artistic ways of expressing their feelings about modern life

- to facilitate being open minded and tolerant – by getting to know other cultures and other students of their age from different parts of Europe


7. Detailed project-schedule and method (who, what, when, how?) // detailierter Zeitplan und Methode der Umsetzung (wer, was, wann, wie?)

Jannuary: introduction of schools - brief information and a few photos on WIKI (see First Results). The Italian partners have sent their partners CDs presenting their school and region.

February: looking for information about idols and values of young people in the past (e.g. Ancient Rome). We are going to use the internet, encyklopedias and possibly organize a lecture with a historian. The results will then be summarized and displayed on Wiki.

March: survey preparation - the partner schools will try to agree on more or less the same questions for their questionnaire, based on youth cultures, scenes and interests.

April: the questionnaires will be distributed in schools in order to find out what idols, values and interests young people at our schools have. At the end of March we would like to evaluate the questionnaire and prepare the presentation of its results. In these stages of the project we may ask a sociologist to help us prepare the questionnaire and evaluate it.

May: preparation of the final product - PowerPoint Presentation.
